The Center for Therapeutic Massage is pleased to offer a variety of programs that help both new and well-established massage therapists to improve and enhance their performance. Our list of offerings grows frequently. The current slate of available course is located here.

Spa Techniques I

Spa techniques will teach the basics of applying spa body treatments (scrubs and wraps) including table set up, mixing and applying the product, and how to remove it with and without the use of a wet room.

Orthopedic Assessment - Upper and Lower Body

The purpose of the class is to learn how to evaluate joints and surrounding tissue so that as a massage therapist you can apply the proper techniques to the findings of the assessment. Orthopedic Assessment classes begin with general assessment guidelines so that there is a basic understanding of the signs, symptoms and injuries. The Upper Body class will transition into proper joint testing for the upper extremities and the lower body class will teach the proper body testing for the lower extremities.

Orthopedic Injuries and Techniques


This course will review common orthopedic injuries and the structures involved. Each class will look at one condition in particular. In the second part of the class, the massage therapist will learn specific massage techniques for the condition.

Tennis elbow
Acute ankle sprains
Hamstring strains
Carpal tunnel syndrome
Hip pointers
Rotator cuff strains
Patellar tendonitis
Shin splints
Sciatica
ITB
Adductor strain

***Completion of the Orthopedic Assessment Classes are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED prior to taking any of the orthopedic injuries and techniques classes.

Hot Stone Massage

This class will teach a basic hot stone routine along with proper set up and clean up of the stones. It incorporates proper choice of stone as well as placement.

Chair Massage

Learn the basics of proper chair set up and take down. You will learn a general routine that can be used on most clients as well as some specific techniques that will allow you modify your routine according to the client's needs.

Basic Reflexology

Learn the basic theory of reflexology, proper hand/ finger movement and a general program you can use on your clients.

Pregnancy Massage
In this course, the massage therapist will learn a sequence appropriate for a pregnant woman. Proper positioning and draping techniques are also taught to ensure a safe and relaxing massage for the mom to be.


Sports Massage I
This course focuses on pre and post event massage. The techniques and sequences learned in this course will allow the massage therapist to adequately warm up and cool down athletes for their sporting event.
